DIY Solar Panel System Wiring Diagram. This is an exact diagram of how I wired my complete solar panel system from the solar panels to the charge controllers to the batteries to the inverter. I also explain the purpose and wiring of the desulfator and Battery Tender trickle charger. If you are looking for a simple to follow, beginners understanding of solar panel system wiring this should help. February 24th, 2013 at 11:43 pmHi I have 32 x 55amp? yuasa battery bank, can you please tell me the best way to wire them up in a 24 volt system, many thanks pete
February 25th, 2013 at 12:28 amDepending on your local laws you may need to have an electrician do some work for you. You could use a “transfer box” and attach it to your circuit breaker panel then plug in your inverter to that. For a temporary solution, if it allowed in your area, you could get a heavy gauge extension cord plug? one end into the inverter, cut the other end off and wire it to a circuit breaker. Make sure you turn off the main power before you plug into the inverter.
February 25th, 2013 at 12:55 amI have been viewing different videos to learn how to do some of these things and you are the best so far. Very concise and precise. Anyone can follow what you? are doing by following the arrow. The only problem I have now is how to connect to a house. Can you help me?
February 25th, 2013 at 1:34 amThey all have their own? ring wire connector. Although a bus bar would be cleaner.
February 25th, 2013 at 2:22 amWith the desulfator, tender, and two charge controllers all meeting their positive wires at battery 1, I am wondering how that connection of 4 wires all comes together. Is there a bus bar or similar with four inputs then one output to connect to? the battery? I really enjoy your videos, and thanks.
February 25th, 2013 at 2:35 amI can/have run my whole house except the A/C on this system. Please search my channel for “DIY Solar Panel” to view all my videos on my system. Also view the resources below the videos in the video description box for pricing and reviews on all? the components of my system.
February 25th, 2013 at 3:27 amand how much can you run w/ this 4panel system? Fridge, tv, and a few lights on a? 24hr basis?
February 25th, 2013 at 3:49 amThat is what I thought. Did you ground all your equipment??
February 25th, 2013 at 4:46 amNo.?
February 25th, 2013 at 5:28 amDo you keep the changer plugged in when you have the solar charge controller attached??
February 25th, 2013 at 5:58 amMy system can be connected to? the circuit panel so my entire house can use the power from the solar panels. However, my inverter is 1,500 watts so we can’t run hair driers, the whole house A/C and other heavy electrical use appliances.
February 25th, 2013 at 6:12 amgreat vide, I have a question , I have a 2000 watt converter is up to 17 amp, can I use it?
February 25th, 2013 at 6:21 amwith this system can you provide electricity to the all house?
Thank you?
Deep cycle marine batteries will work too. Without going crazy expensive it seems the 6volt golf car batteries work best, then deep cycle marine batteries then automotive batteries. They are all designed for a specific task. The golf car batteries are most closely designed for solar than the other two. They can be drained and recharged many more times than the others. They will last longer thus lowering the? cost per use quite a bit.
February 25th, 2013 at 7:18 amGreat video man! Could you use 12 volt marine batteries like are used with a trolling motor? I’m sure the golf cart batteries are way better, but how much better? I can get the? 12 volts really cheap through a friend, and as many as I want.
February 25th, 2013 at 7:28 amI had to? put it into language I understood. 🙂
February 25th, 2013 at 7:50 amGreat? Vid!
February 25th, 2013 at 8:04 amGreat recommendation. It would sure make it much easier to work with.?
February 25th, 2013 at 8:55 amgreat video , you explained it so a novice can understand ,? whish more people were as clear as your videos . thanks
February 25th, 2013 at 9:37 amHe measures his watts with a i*kilowatt* meter, when it is coming into the
February 25th, 2013 at 9:59 amhouse. He said he has a volt meter that he can measure directly from the
panels. Thanks for your help it? is much appreciated. Lee
Another excellent video.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:51 amFor people new to setting all this up, the only thing I would add? as a “safety feature” and is not “required” but good to have is a shutoff/disconnect between the solar panels and the charge controllers to disconect the power coming in from the Solar panels from you whole system (especially if you plan on a system over 24/48 volts DC). You may also want to consider a disconnect between the charge controllers and the battery bank. Do not sub me, I do not make solar vids
How do you measure your watts? What are the watts? when the panels are not connected?
