Edifier Vs Logitech z-5500 – The Test We All Wanted To See
BR>
Just a test comparing the Edifier Signature (s530,s550,s730,s750) with the Logitech z-5500. Not much to say,not much to show, mostly because in the video you won’t hear any difference of the how both speakers sounds like. There is a little difference, the Edifier speakers are have more alive frequency response, but you can hear it only if you have good speakers (not Logitech),or good headphones. In this test i aimed the mid-range frequency response, and the bass. I noticed that the Logitech speakers cannot produce any midrange frequency with the ease the Edifier speakers do. The Logitech amplifier is well made, but not calibrated for this kind of speakers, because for example it sends signal below 100hz to the satellites, but it’s bad because the plastic cabinet does not tune to these frequencies, and the result is bad. The Edifier amplifier can send signal down to about 130-150hz to the speakers (150hz-22khz official specs),but the wooden cabinet plus the two way crossover, makes it sound as good as it designed to be. However i found the Edifier speakers sounding a little bit confusing when the mid and low range frequencies are adjusted from the control pod,and the speakers are playing low frequencies. Also when the volume is nearly max,the THD level is the same as the Logitech speakers, but the Midbass driver (130-150hz to 10-12khz) is producing a little bit of intermodulation distortion, and the tweeter sounds sharp. The Logitech speakers on nearly max volume also producing …

February 17th, 2013 at 5:55 amhello? edi
February 17th, 2013 at 6:03 amYes? you are right about watts. I didnt know such stuff about 4 month ago. I totally agree with you. But still z906 is enough for me right now.
I’ll think about that what you said. Thanks.
February 17th, 2013 at 6:19 amIt is enough for some sort of Marketing Campaign but knowing how audio works and the prices of actual Home Theater prices like a Yamaha’s 7.1 Receiver and a better 5.1 Set let’s say from Klipsch, leading you to know that you are getting totally ripped off buying craptastic pc speakers because they are advertised as 500w.
This goes to Logitech,Edifier,Creative, and whatever else.
Think of it like buying a scrap Poozot with a turbocharged engine? at the price you could get an actual sports car.

February 17th, 2013 at 7:37 amnever trust the Watts? 😉
February 17th, 2013 at 7:59 amz5500? is better
February 17th, 2013 at 8:21 amBut we should not forget that all these are performing like factory rejects when compared to a system consisted by a 100$ Yamaha Amplifier,100$ Yamaha Subwoofer and a pair of 70$ Hi-Fi Speakers like Wharfedale Diamonds.
There’s no comparison between the clarity? of this and the Edifier s730 which will go for the same cost, around as much as 260-290 Euros.
February 17th, 2013 at 8:26 amThe high frequencies of the z-5500 are very good considering it uses 3″ full ranges without whizzer cones but overall it lacks? of other frequencies and the amplitude of the high frequency range is way further to be able to match the subwoofer.
The Edifier is no better just like any multimedia speaker system, but offers a wider scene and provides as flat frequency response is possible without frequency gaps, unlike the z-5500 which is almost empty from 200hz up to 800hz,and overamped at >3-5khz.
February 17th, 2013 at 8:26 amYes. Is the controller broken or you need to make a whole new one? If you go for a new one? just get an amplifier which will have everything needed and then connect a passive subwoofer on that.
February 17th, 2013 at 9:06 amThere is a problem about what you said though, the Logitech sounds way more detailed and clear but it sounds a bit like a box, the Edifier on the other hand is very mid shy, less detailed and more muffled.
In terms of sonic details I don’t? understand how you chose the Edifier.
February 17th, 2013 at 9:35 amFinally someone who? knows the speaker subject!! Good job man!!
February 17th, 2013 at 10:11 amhey bro do you know how to make a subwoofer volume control ? The subwoofer of my computer broke -_- and I need to know how to make a new? one.

February 17th, 2013 at 10:50 amVery well done and really helpful! Even though the sound quality in the video is not the best, I can hear huge differences. Maybe you could play the subs and satellites together next time.? Thanks a lot!
February 17th, 2013 at 11:13 amyou must be fucking kidding me, anything bose is overpriced? as fuck and there are much better quality speaker for more than a fourth of the price.

February 17th, 2013 at 2:38 pmOnly reason i thought of kicker was cause the manufacture specs are the closest to the stock sub so its the safest way to go for me cause i dont want to blow out the amp cause I’m not too good with? audio equipment but this is more like common sense

February 17th, 2013 at 5:00 pmThese are a little heavier than the newer LED lights, but should? still hang on a Truss. I use very large Super Clamps, and run a safety cable through the LED housing to the Truss just in case.
