You are the man! Appreciate the video… as i too am starting my Get off the grid plan to ditch MET-ED and there prices… As far as to what people have to say with Your house, What does that have to do with it… Its a video review, and for the remark about being christian… I too am? christian… So Man i Support You 100% and keep the great videos comming!
September 18th, 2012 at 8:08 am@badboycee an inverter like mine would probably be ideal even though maybe a little overkill you might decide to run some other things. A great tool to have is a kill-a-watt meter they sell for around 30 bucks @ Home depot, radio shack ext. and tell exactly how much power a? device uses.
September 18th, 2012 at 8:49 amB.T.W. I don’t have any plans to sell these inverters-one runs my offgrid refrigerator and the other runs my offgrid freezer.
CAN? YOU TELL ME WHAT SIZE POWER INVERTER I NEED AND THE ONE YOU RECOMMEND FOR MY CONVERSION VAN I WANT TO RUN A SAMSUNG 26INCH TV AND A BLE-RAY DISK PLAYER THANKS …
September 18th, 2012 at 8:50 am–This is not my bedroom–I asked myself why you would care? about my relationship status? 1 look at your page gives the answer–you are atheist and you hate Christians and the bible–since I am Christian it bothers you so you attack!–What a poor, miserable, jealous existence you must be! I am off the grid now no more electric bills!!! The Lord is my savior (JESUS CHRIST) and I am happy–can you say the same?
September 18th, 2012 at 9:23 amYou? obviously don’t have a girl friend, with all them batteries and stuff in your bedroom …lol
September 18th, 2012 at 9:37 amFor a 240v well pump, a 120V inverter and a step-up? transformer might work (those are sometimes sold as travel power converters).
September 18th, 2012 at 10:05 amif your well is over 50 or 75 feet deep–might just stay ac route as you? will spend a fortune on wire! by the way i’m no expert i just read and gather as much info as I can–some electronics training in the navy as well as hydraulics but no expert thanks anyway tho.
September 18th, 2012 at 10:54 amyes a dc disconnect is wise. I started a small fire not long ago when i installed a 12 volt light to see my setup– connections, charge controller ext. a wire got pinched and as it got hot the small amount of insulation left on the wire melted and shorted. turning off the switch disconnected power, but as there was a small fire burning it made me wonder? if the switch was to blame so i hit the large disconnect and put out the fire.– i’ll look for a dc pump —continued—
September 18th, 2012 at 11:28 amGood info. I may buy it. If you run across a good 12/24 pump, send me the link. I may go ahead and install one just to have a backup.
September 18th, 2012 at 11:29 amThanks for your expertise. Write back if you think of anything else I? need to know. Just because I have a solar installation doesn’t mean I know what I’m doing š
Do I need a DC disconnect? I don’t have one now, but think I should… yes…?
this inverter doesn’t say pure sign wave so I assume it’s modified– which is probably fine for a well pump since–it probably won’t run that often–and probably will stay plenty cool and not overheat the motor. Just so you know I have seen 12/24 volt well pumps eliminating the need for an inverter. In my situation I will be taking all my? 220v ac stuff out of the equation. going to use batteries for stick welding.Modifing dryer use outdoor clothes hanger.ect.
September 18th, 2012 at 11:54 amdon’t know much about aims or the 12-240 volt inverters but this is? a very attractive unit if I was in the market for one! I do know what happens when you don’t have enough battery storage and or voltage and you hit it with a very large inductive load–the battery voltage dips so low that the inverters low voltage shutoff kicks in–I like this unit cause its low voltage shutoff says 10 volts. this shouldn’t be a problem for you as i’ve seen your battery bank! —–continued——
September 18th, 2012 at 12:15 pmI need an inverter that is 12v / 240v… and will run my well pump. I am having a problem finding one. What do you know about AIMS? I was? looking at this one:
AIMS Model #:PWRINV5K24012W
September 18th, 2012 at 12:53 pmNice comparison… and thanks? for the sub.
September 18th, 2012 at 1:24 pmHmmm… I didn’t know Lowes carried a pure sine wave inverter… … I will have to check that out.
Good vids
@breezebro–oh and I havent had any problems out of either of my inverters one runs my fridge and the other my deep freeze.–forgot? to mention I also just bought a bank of 6 12 volt agm batteries from o’reiley 84 month warranty! super start 34/78 extagm. the rolls batteries are also 84 month!
September 18th, 2012 at 1:29 pm@Breezebro–I will? be finishing up a homemade solar panel this weekend– made from 6 inch cells i bought 2 years ago–this will be a 235 watt panel– i have about $175-$200 in construction. going to build about 5 or 6 of these—–whew!—–
September 18th, 2012 at 1:56 pm@Breezebro–I did alot of price comparisons for different batteries–bigger is usually better for off-grid. Some of the l-16 size batteries I checked were cheaper but could not come close to the power or warranty of the rolls-surrette:in fact four l-16s@$250 each from another brand have less amp hours than 2? rolls-surrette s-600@388 each. Now I have 3 wind generators with plans for 2 more, one is the windy nation windtura 750. I also have about 12 solar panels totaling around 600 watts-continued
September 18th, 2012 at 2:43 pm@breezebro — bought these batteries about 3 years ago from sams. These batteries are all dead now wiil not retain more than 12.3 volts and a small load for an hour or two brings them to 11.7 volts, this is partly my fault as they went through a small time of neglect (no use for 4-5 months)also my charging system could not support a bank of this size, however this is my second time to use golf cart batteries, I am going to buy a pair of rolls-surrette l-16 model;? s-600 tommorrow. –continued–
September 18th, 2012 at 3:13 pmCould you tell me about your batteries?
September 18th, 2012 at 4:00 pmIs the windmill the only source to charge the batteries?
I’ve read reviews that say this inverter has a problem of shutting down for no apparent reason. Now that you’ve gad them for? a while do you still recommend them?
@BREGGREN thanks for the? kind words!
September 18th, 2012 at 4:04 pmThis Guy, ‘windsunvolts’, Is a Real UpStanding Guy! Honest, Fair & Intelligent & Informative.? Keep ’em Comin’! Thank You!
September 18th, 2012 at 4:31 pmGood video, I almost bought a Sunforce 1500 watt inverter but I ended up with a Go Power 1500 watt. You can see it on my recent videos…I haven’t hooked it all up yet, that comes next weekend. Keep up the videos!?
September 18th, 2012 at 4:44 pmLouisiana? pays 50% rebate on wind/solar investments this is not a tax credit
September 18th, 2012 at 5:19 pmbut a rebate. Difference being regardless of income you still get 50% back!
these inverters cost about 45 dollars each after rebate.
Thanks. Convinced? me!
