Question by Buzzie8: Ice maker dispenser motor not working. I replaced motor what else could it be?
Our ice maker dispenser is not working. I thought for sure it was the motor and replaced it. I am assuming that the motor should turn the auger. The solenoid pulls the ice crusher up but the auger will not turn even after replacing motor. I simulate the door being closed by pushing the button in. I have not checked power to the auger motor with a tester yet but will soon. If it is getting power what else could it be? It is a GE Profile refrigerator.

Question by Supergal: How do you fix an ice crusher/ dispenser in a Kenmore fridge?
I have a Kenmore Elite side by side fridge. It is a year old and just went out of warranty a month ago. Tonight the ice dispenser quit working. It makes a noise like it is going to crush and/or dispense, then it sounds like the motor gives out. I know I can have a repairman come and fix it, but am curious if it is an easy and inexpensive problem to fix.

Have you removed the ice bin and made sure there isn’t a block of ice jammed in the mechanism? Sometimes, if you open the freezer door frequently, condensation will form on the cubes and fuse them together. You may have to clean out the old ice and start over.
