The LPN must be fine for you. You will learn higher skilled work, but the CNA background will help you a lot. This is a smart move, as nurses are in demand all over. You should also think about getting an RN if you are able after you begin work as an LPN. Go for it!

Have you considered Registered Nursing? It only takes 2 yrs to earn an Associates Degree and you will earn twice the salary and have many more employment options, plus you can continue your education to a Bachelors, then Masters degree if you choose.

LPN school is relatively short though hard but in the long run, you will have more time with your grandson, job satisfaction and personal fulfillment. Even including the prerequisites you will have to take, it is worth your time. 35 is young! Many people are going to nursing school in their 40’s and then some. Later, you may decide to do a bridge program to get your RN but there is certainly no pressure to do that unless you personally want to.
