Question by biggss231: Why does my ballast keep blowing its fuse?
I have a 1000 watt 240V GGL digital ballast that keeps blowing its fuse. i would figure its the ballast itself but i buy a new one and it does the same thing. as you probably know this isnt cool since they cost 500 a pop, and this has happened four times… any ideas?
i had the room wired for 80 amps and i am running 6000 watts… everything else in the room is running off the breakers from my house…

Fuses cost 500 a pop?
I’m just guessing, but I think your electricity setup just might not be appropriate for growing. For instance, where I live, we can’t plug in too many appliances or the breaker flips.
If the fuse is blowing, it means the switch is overloaded or that it’s receiving an energy flow that isn’t constant. Take everything else off that circuit, try replacing the appropriate fuse, and if it’s still not working then maybe it’s just not meant to be.
Other than that, if you’re spending that much on the ballast, you might want to get an electrician, but depending on what you’re growing, that might be a bad idea.

Question by Meagan: what exact equipment do i need for me and one other singer/acoustic guitar player to sing at weddings?
Not sure of brands or anything. But I want to sing at weddings. I want a mic that has fabulous sound and something simple to set up.

I don’t know what your budget is but what you need would be a really good PA system and a mixer. For the best balance and sound quality, you will want to use separate microphones for the vocals and the guitars. So, you will need at least a 200 watt stereo PA system, a 4 to 8 channel mixer, 4 microphone stands and two Shure SM-58 microphones for vocals and two SM-57 microphones for the guitars. If that is a little out of your price range, then you can get by with just 2 mics and hopefully that will pick up enough of the guitars and you would still need the 200 watt stereo PA system.

Then you would just need 2 to 4 microphones to go with it. Buying a sound system with less than 200 watts of power, in my opinion will not give you the volume or the sound quality that you really need.

The ideal system, if you can afford it would be something like an 8-channel Alesis Mixer and the 4 Shure microphones and mic stands mentioned above plus a QSC GX5 500 watts per channel stereo power amplifier driving two JBL JRX115 2-way speaker cabinets. JBL Speakers just sound better for live sound than any other speakers. This is the system I have. I really shopped around and listened to a lot of PA systems and, JBL speakers are far and away the best. The total cost on a system like this would be approximately $ 1,800 including all the cables. With discounts you can perhaps get it all for around $ 1,500 and you will have an amazing very high quality sound system with all the power you will ever need.

The following tutorial was created to teach you how to get the highest quality, yet cheapest green screen and lighting available today. CS4 will also work for the same effect. A quick tip about Chroma Key: Be patient. Mess around with the settings until you get something that looks good. If you look at my video, my hair is a little choppy, and I could’ve easily done a better job if I had just taken my time. Quick Tip About Lighting! Do NOT shine the lights directly into your face. If you feel hot, or if you feel like you have to squint, you need to reposition your lights. In my example, I use three-point-lighting. More information about that setup can be found on Google Images. Quick Tip about Green Screen! Try to avoid ‘Paper’ green screens. Fabric is always better. If you really look at paper, it often seems that it’s never one solid color …
