If $ 108 is the sale price, then being 20% off the regular price means that it is 80% (100% – 20%) of the regular price. Divide 108 by 0.80 to get $ 135.

At 20% off, the price is 100% – 20% = 80% of the original price.
80% = 80/100 = 0.80
Let x = original price
0.80x = $ 108.00
Divided both sides by 0.80 to find x.
x = $ 108.00 divided by 0.80
x = $ 135
The original price was $ 135.
