Question by Fro: Car Audio: Right Amplifier to buy?
Alright I’ve had way too many problems with my past 2 amps (this one which i just recently purchased and hooked up just yesterday…won’t go into detail)

Pretty much the amp that I got I was retarded and didn’t look at the RMS…I’m really not all that sure how to figure out…it has 3 25 Amp fuses…and it says its 2600 Watt Peak power….anyway it likes to cut out all the time…a technician told me to check the stable load on the wires in the subbox…and I re did all of them…put em how they are supposed to be…so everything is working except the amp is still being a pain in my ass. It didn’t make it any better that it didn’t come with a fan. lol what amp doesn’t come with a fan?

Anyway I’m not sure how many W RMS my subs can handle and I don’t know how to figure it out…maybe somebody has the same SUBS as me and could tell me.
I’m running 2 12″ Pioneer Premier Competetion Pro Series that are 2,000 Watts a peice. (Guessing maybe 500 Watts RMS?) I’m not too sure…the only thing I do know is that they are serious and thunder ridiculous.

Anyway I’m sick of wasting money here and there on this system so I need and idea on what amp I need to get to power these babies without having the protect mode/cut out thing going on.

Also The technician also told me that because it’s a 2 channel amp then that is the problem and I need to get a mono block amp or just wire my subs 4 ohm…I think he was full of it because my manual for the amp says that it can handle 2 OHM…so I’m not sure.

900W RMS amplifier you think will be good? Maybe 1,000 W RMS Amplifier?

Unless you have any ideas or advice to where I can fix my problem now and I don’t have to spend any money that would be awesome too!!

i like directed amps for the cash but everytime i write em on here i get a thumbs down???? they are great amps for bass.. i picked up a d1200 directed on ebay new for 130… they have a d600 for 108 brand new… now 600 watts for this amp is underrated if ya ask me… and people talk about 1000-2000 watt amps… now the db level between a 600 watt amp and a 1200 watt amp is only 3db.. which is barely noticable… to gain 3db you have to keep doubling your amplifier power…i saw a directed d2400 on ebay that just sold for 200 bucks… but that was used and i probbly wouldnt go that route myself but it is an option… the d600 on ebay has a subsonic filter at 30hz with a rolloff rate of 24 db which is good.. i personally dont boost the bass on the amp or head unit…it is stable to 2 ohms. if you can find a d1200 it is stable to 1 ohm… whatever ya go with get a class d that is stable to 1-2 ohms w/ a subsonic filter and stay away from all the garbage out there.also see what your voltage out on your head unit is.. if it is only 2volts than toss it and get a headunit that puts out 4volts… class d is the only way to go for subs.. oh yeah and dont skimp on the wiring kit…
