Question by L.T.M.: Should West Virginia be forcibly vaccinating youngsters for H1N1?
Apparently that’s exactly what they’re doing…
West Virginia Police Forcibly hold Boy for H1N1 Flu Shot After He had Fled Gym
Maryland folks Face Fines, Jail, except Kids Get H1N1 Vaccination
New Massachusetts Law: Adults Face prison Unless They Get H1N1 Shot, children Can be Forcibly Removed from Parents so State can Vaccinate Kids
In a shocking story, a boy was held down by two deputies so that the boy, in center school, may receive an H1N1 shot all over a vaccination clinic held at the Wheeling West Virginia Middle college final Friday.
According to the Wheeling Intelligencer, it took the “strength of two deputies” to hold down the boy. To make matters even worse, prior to the shot the boy had fled the gymnasium, where the school’s useful resource officer, a local deputy at the Ohio County’s Sheriff’s Office, allegedly “coaxed” the boy again inside.
According to a witness, well being department Administrator Howard Gamble, who stated during a regular Wheeling-Ohio County Health Board meeting Tuesday, he saw any other Sheriff’s deputy aid the first deputy “hold the kid down”.
From the Intelligencer:
He noted the boy’s mother could not bear to watch the scene and left the gymnasium. Out of obvious fear of receiving the injection, the student ran out of the building. The school’s resource officer, Ohio County Sheriff’s Deputy John Haglock, coaxed the boy back inside. Once at the shot station, however, Haglock apparently needed some assist keeping the boy still, and another deputy assisted.
“He tried to run. I looked over and saw two sheriff’s deputies conserving a kid down,” Gamble said. “Mom took off, she couldn’t take it. You had one nurse with the needle, two deputies holding him, one nurse is grabbing hands – because that’s what they need to do, to go after the needle. And that’s the last thing you want.”

Yes it would help to have extra details I agree. But..are parents really being given an option? Can their children even attend school w/o the shot? I bet home schooling is looking more appealing all the time in states like Mass and WV.
No Micheala, actually you did just fine.

I find this to be very troublesome and frightening.
Since mom took off, because she couldn’t bear to look, does this mean that she was in agreement and the child was just afraid of receiving an injection? That would make a difference for certain.
However, if this was done against her approval, I’d be heading to the nearest law office about now.
April 29th, 2012 at 8:34 pmMom must have approved the shot and moms have the right to do that. Still, what kind of mom would do that over a vaccine? Scares the heck out of me.
I have a child who has to take regular medication. If he refused, I would have to have help forcing him to take it. That mom must really be afraid of the swine flu.
April 29th, 2012 at 8:35 pmSad story. If that vaccine hadn’t been so hyped up none of that would be necessary whether the mom approved or not.
I don’t think it should be mandatory for anybody to get any shots, it seems like a human rights violation to me.

I can answer this question by stating that public school education is not a “RIGHT”. School immunizations are mandatory in order to attend tax payer funded public education which is NOT A RIGHT. Again, government has its grubby little fingers in every aspect of our lives, personal choices. I resent paying state taxes to fund this mess called public education.
The WVA parent gives the appearance of consenting to her child’s immunization, else I believe she would have fought to prevent this. There is not enough information about this individual situation.
But in my opinion, this is another example of government bullying. Forced H1N1 does not fall under the guise of “for the welfare of the nation”. What’s next, forced HIV immunization? Will the gvt decide to include other vaccines in its list of mandatory immunizations?
I don’t agree with most of the hogwash being crammed down children’s throats is public education anyway; our children are being dumbed down. I hope to see more homeschooling and private and business schools.
I would be more concerned about the liberal kool aid being dumped down our children’s throats than enforcing H1N1 vaccine. But then, I’m not in charge, the government is, sadly.
I know I may appear to have veered from your question, but I could not provide a substantial answer without the integration.
GET THE GOVERNMENT OUT OF OUR PERSONAL LIVES AND POCKETBOOKS.
April 29th, 2012 at 9:25 pmThis vaccine is one of the greatest blindfolds ever pulled over the public eyes …
Big Pharm has done a fantastic job at scaring the hell out of everyone over NOTHING !
I think this is scary on many many levels !!!!
The latest I heard was that they were increasing the number of dead by the swine flu because they have decided to lump in all the people who dies of symptoms similar to the swine flu … I guess they were on track to beat the number of deaths from the normal flu to they had to pad their numbers to keep up this ridiculous hysteria !
April 29th, 2012 at 9:52 pmThere is no place to confirm that this shot was mandatory. The child’s Mother was there and had to give consent for him to have the shot. Kids freak out at the last minute, and it is common practice to hold them down to give a shot. Usually adults nearby help. This happens a lot. Kids freak out and have to be held down to get treatment, but I think this story was exaggerated to sell News Papers.
We have had children die from H1N1 here in WV. In this story the Governor recommends the shot. He does not say it is mandatory http://www.theintelligencer.net/page/content.detail/id/530470.html
The truth is “Actually, the child did run and did have to be coaxed back into the school but it was the mother who asked for assistance in holding the child still. It was a completely innocent situation that has been blown out of proportion.”
