Question by Kawikawika: Will a Kentwood amp work with an alpine-r sub?
Hi, I have an alpine swr-1042D sub, it runs 200-500 watts rms, I was wondering if a Kentwood KAC-8103D Class D 1 channel amp running at 300-500 watts would work well togethor? Any suggestions on a different affordable amp? I’m kind of on a budget. Mahalo!

Sounds like a good match. Run the coils in parallel. That will make a 2 ohm load and the amp will produce 500 watts rms. Use a good box and you’ll be all set.
Annother affordable amp: Lanzar Vibe 300D 400w @ 2 ohms.
It would probably run you about $ 175 on the internet.

Match the ohm rating, or you could destroy the amp — before you ever heard what it sounded like.
If it can’t drive it, you’ll know. And if it overdrives it, you’ll hear that too. There’s plenty of techy info in audiophile sections of the net on how to deal with such amp/speaker matches. Good luck. Hope it sounds killer.
