Joyce Hyatt, RN, CNM, DNP, an assistant professor at the UMDNJ-School of Nursing and a school member in the Nurse Midwifery Education Program spent two weeks in Haiti, February 27 through March 6, assisting pregnant and laboring girls and teaching skilled birth attendants/midwifes. She also was able to offer compassion and care to women and their families during the time of crisis.
UMDNJ celebrated National Nurses Week (May 6-12, 2010) with its nursing faculty, staff and students at an event that featured, in order of video appearance, Susan Salmond, Ed.D., RN, dean of the UMDNJ-School of Nursing, and Yvonne Wesley, RN, Ph.D., a member and secretary of the Board of Directors of UMDNJ-The University Hospital. Wesley discussed her book Black Womens Health: Challenges and Opportunities.
