Question by Eric Shin: Is it safe to run a 1000 watt speaker & 1000 subwoofer in a standard house outlet?
I rented a 1000 watt speaker and 1000 watt subwoofer for a party and don’t know if it’ll be safe to simple plug it into a house outlet. Would it be safer to run a 2000 watt generator?

Yes it probably will work just fine. Your speakers will draw 2000 watts for only a brief second once in a while – you probably will be way below that most of the time. If you wanted to be safe, you could always plug the sub into an outlet that is on a separate circuit breaker. Do not bother with a generator in any case.

i recently acquired some 250 watt tweeters and midrange speakers and i want to purchase some 6X9s but i want to know if i have to buy separate amps for these speakers. i am also putting two 500 watt speakers in my trunk. So i am interested in knowing what types of amps i need to purchase.

You should get at least a 750watt amp. Kicker is one of the best names around. Here’s one I found for sale at Ebay for only $ 175.
