Question by Kingtut: Has anyone bench tested this amp and subwoofer?
Power Acoustik BAMF4000/1D 1200W Class D Mono Amplifier

says it can put out 4k watts max and 1200watts rms
i used to own one but it got stolen before i could bench test it

Boss p12DVC

says 2k max 1k rms but i don’t believe it, i just don’t want to be blowing my subs again

power acoustik amplifiers usually make about half the power that they are rated to make. boss equipment is even worse.

Question by Eric Shin: Is it safe to run a 1000 watt speaker & 1000 subwoofer in a standard house outlet?
I rented a 1000 watt speaker and 1000 watt subwoofer for a party and don’t know if it’ll be safe to simple plug it into a house outlet. Would it be safer to run a 2000 watt generator?

Yes it probably will work just fine. Your speakers will draw 2000 watts for only a brief second once in a while – you probably will be way below that most of the time. If you wanted to be safe, you could always plug the sub into an outlet that is on a separate circuit breaker. Do not bother with a generator in any case.

Question by Ryan: Hi i have a honda civic coupe 2008 and i already have a factory subwoofer and just bought a 12 in polkaudio.?
I also bought an alpine 500 watt, and im getting it installed, how much louder will this be then the factory subwoofer i had before. The sub there putting in is going to cancel out my subwoofer.

In a cheap Civic, IF you have a factory sub(I’m impressed they bothered), it’s not much bigger than an 8″, more likely a 6.5 sub wannabe. Honda’s never been known to care much bout their sound systems. So yes, pretty much ANY aftermarket 12 will blow it to hell and back if installed and powered properly. Why you would buy two different branded subs tho is a bit odd. Hopefully you didn’t pay more than $ 250 for both. Honestly if I was you, I’d pawn em and go for a MTX Terminator system. Dual 12s, powered by a mere 400 or so watts, but I’ve heard these firsthand, and honestly, for the $ 240 you can pick one up on Ebay, they hit like a mofo.

I have a Xtreme 1500x 500 watt mono block amplifier, and am trying to figure out exactly what type of subwoofer i need, because there is so much mumbo jumbo i dont understand and am just getting more confused.

subs are rated by max witch dont really mean anything,you usuall go by the rms thats like countious power,,so a good begener sub is like kicker comps almost any lil amp will bang those,not the bigger rms kickers youll need a ton of money

Question by Jacob B: What is the difference between a powered subwoofer and the “non” powered subwoofers?
I’m looking to replace my sony subwoofer which came with my packaged surround sound system which has 1000 total watts. I’ve read a lot of good reviews on the Klipsch 10inch Powered Subwoofer.” Built-in BASH digital amplifier supplies 420 watts peak power, 200 watts RMS (continuous)” What does that mean?

A powered sub has its own amp and usually is fed from a pre amp
non powered subs take a high powered fed from the main amp.
Replace with similar to the original sub.
Peak power is the maximum power the amp can deliver for a short period.
RMS stands for root mean square The rms of a sine wave gives the eqivallent power to that measured in a DC circuit.
If you compare equipment its best to compare RMS.
