Question by jason b: What is the best brand of amps and speakers you can buy?
I just bought an eclipse dual 12″ sub enclosure with two eclipse SW6124BXD subs in it. The subs can handle over 500 watts, so should Just get a 500 watt amp or something higher. Also do i use a 4 guage amp kit, or and 8 guage? Oh yhea should I get another amp just for the regular speaker in my car cause I like to blast my music and my car dosent have an amp in it, and after getting some new rear speakers about a month ago they are starting to blow compleatly. Someone please help me out!

Well it depends on how loud you want it I think a 1000 watt amp is pretty OK for 2 12″ speakers. loud enough to set off peoples car alarms when you drive by but not loud enough to get you sent to jail. Now about the amp for the inside of your car, when you got your subs put in they should have connected all of your speakers to one amp to make one sound. If they didn’t, Go get your money back Homey you got played!

my current motherboard i have in my computer is a N-Alvorix-RS880-uATX (Alvorix) motherboard.i currently have 8 gb g skill ripjaws x 1333 10666.7200 rpm barracuda 1tb hdd.i have a 500 watt power supply.but will upgrade to a 650 soon.a diamond radeon hd5750 1gb gddr5 graphics card,not sure if you need that info but just if you do.there it is.thanks for the help in advance.usually do use it for gaming,watching movies.stuff like that.

I just put this computer together for a lady here, for around$ 1000, you might be interested in the build:

Well, if you are sub-$ 1000 you probably are smart to go with an AMD based computer. The AMD X 4 965 Black CPU is probably the best you can hope for and keep the other costs under control. AMD is coming out with a 6 core processor in May (sometime next month), but in order to take advantage of that extra two cores, you have to have multithreaded applications. The critical aspect of SIMS3 game is Pixel Shader 2.0. Most of the middle range video cards will run Pixel Shader 3.0 or better these days, so that is not the problem. You want to DEFINITELY stay away from LOW END VIDEO CARDS – this is the killer. You want to have either an ASUS or a GIGABYTE motherboard. Stay away from MSI, they have slid down the hill as far as I am concerned. Generally, 6 gigs of RAM is sufficient if you are talking Windows 7 Ultimate edition 64 bit.

And the top of the line is the 965 as you can see, which is an AM3 socket cpu.

I would suggest that you build the computer yourself to save money. You will generally save about $ 100 – $ 150 by building it yourself and it takes about 12 steps and 3 – 4 hours to put one together.
It can take a day or two to install the operating system and troubleshoot basic problems, but generally speaking, Windows 7 is very stable. You want a 64 bit operating system version and not the crappy 32 bit version.

The real costs in a computer are the CPU, motherboard, video card, RAM, followed by the case cost, power supply, cpu cooler and thermal paste for the CPU.

OK – Now, this would be a great computer for playing your SIMS3, and I did a lot of price comparisons to get here. This comes UNDER your $ 900 at $ 899.

Now the last problem I forsee, is that it DOES NOT include the operating system cost. I can’t get around this without downgrading you on a lot of the parts to something INFERIOR. So I am going to leave this the way it is and give you a link to Windows 7 OEM Edition, $ 99.99 on newegg UNTIL 4/30 and this is a good deal, will save you some money, but you have to buy it by 4/30

400 nom. is nominal, meaning “nominal” value is “de facto” rather than an exact, typical, or average measurement.

I.E., Pioneer is saying ~400 watt continuous because music isn’t exact so it’s difficult to put an exact figure on the wattage.

The GM-8500M is a good match for those subs.

Question by Fafafooey: Whats the best way to light up a product for a photo shoot?
I work for a small company and I have multiple light stands with two 500 watt lights, more for lighting an area than photo shoots. We have a white product with black background but the photos looked yellow. Taking off the protective grill was a good step, but there are also strange shadows that 1000 watts isn’t strong enough to fully remove.

Long question short, how do I whiten the picture or at least cheaply cover the lights with keeping in mind the lights are hot!!!

Get a copy of the Oct. 2007 issue of Shutterbug Magazine. Its their annual lighting issue. You can also read it at shutterbug.com.

The yellow tint sounds like a white balance problem unless you’re using film. For indoor work your film should be tungsten balanced. Using daylight film indoors will result in color shifts to the yellow/orange range.

If using a digital camera check your WB settings – refer to your Owner’s Manual for directions. There is a product called an ExpoDisc (expoimaging.net) to set WB under mixed lighting conditions. It was reviewed in Shutterbug a couple of months ago.
