Question by : Can I get started taking nursing classes in PA and paintings on getting my GED as I’m taking classes?
I need to start nursing school, but I need to get my GED. Is there any colleges where I can start my classes, like my gen-ed classes, and get my GED while I’m doing them?

Admission necessities to nursing programs require certain documentation earlier than you’re allowed to begin classes. For example you must provide identity. If you lack identification they will not join you till you supply it. Question by flipback: Are there any non-impacted nursing techniques in California?
It seems that all nursing programs in California are impacted. Is this true throughout the state? How about other states?

I could not find any when I was trying to get into nursing school, so I just waited a semester, took a few classes over to get A’s and B’s and got into some community colleges and CSULB (I chose CSULB). You need to have just right grades in sciences (anatomy, physiology, micorbiology, etc.) meaning no C’s! It should not be a big problem if your grades are good. Good luck!

Question by amiej21: will i still get into sdsu if im a switch student and im majoring in nursing if i get a C in human anatomy?
im planning on transfering to SDSU and my prime is nursing, but will i be able to transfer if i got a C grade in Bio 260(human anatomy)? can i get accepted, and just retake the class there?

To get into Nursing School, you pretty much need an “A” moderate. Nursing Schools usually want the cream of the crop before they will even consider taking a scholar with a “C” in Biology. I know because our daughter tried and she couldn’t get in with an overall ‘B’ average and that was at a Junior College. The Nursing faculty said they ordinary all directly
“A” average students first come, first serve. each my Aunt and my first cousin are Nurses and they both had straight “A” averages to get into Nursing School.

Question by Gmobbin: Universities with Nursing systems in California?
I’m planning my trip to CA, which is in 2 weeks. I need to take a look at out some schools. I’m entering my second semester in a community college. What school’s are worth checking out? Preferably southern CA (where my family lives). I want to look at schools who have bachelor nursing programs. Helppp! I’m moving there 1/13!

UCLA, UCI and Loma Linda have excellent nursing programs. However, they are very hard to get into and it is past the deadline for Fall 2012.

Question by Kim: How good are my chances for getting into a community college nursing program?
I have a science gpa of 3.68 (anatomy, physiology, cell bio, and microbio)

I have an overall gpa of 3.5….

Most nursing programs at colleges in the United States require at least a 2.5 or higher grade point average (GPA) in order to be considered for acceptance. If your GPA is 2.4 or lower, you may experience difficulties getting into a nursing program. However, you definitely have options that you can take to ensure that you achieve your dream of becoming a nurse.

Research available schools to see if there are any colleges that accept a 2.4 GPA. They may be difficult to find, but they do exist. For example, the California State University offers an RN Advanced Placement Track program, and the GPA minimum is 2.4. The “Nursing Programs” guidebook provides a complete list of nursing programs and their requirements and is available online as well as at most bookstores.

Consider a community college as a way to improve your qualifications. If you are truly serious about working in the health care industry, there are plenty of community colleges that provide practical nurse training and don’t impose the strict GPA requirements that many universities do.

Consult with the nursing admissions department of the university that you want to attend and ask if it is willing to consider a 2.4 GPA under exceptional circumstances. The GPA requirements are not the only factor to be considered by an admissions board. Life experience, volunteer work and passion are also important. If your school of choice places special consideration for those with volunteer work in the health care industry, make sure that you fulfill all other possible criterion before you apply.

Retake the required courses to help build up your GPA. Most students find it easier when they take a course the second time because their understanding has improved. If your school of choice is strict about imposing the 2.5 GPA requirement, then you’ll need to consider retaking some courses until you improve your GPA.
