Question by Marlo: When you under power by 50 watts would you be able to tell the difference ?

Subs
SVC 4 ohm subs 300 cont and 700 peak

I need the 500 watts, I really don’t want 250 unless the 50 watts im not pushing isn’t going to make a difference. If i am only able to push at 250.. which is 50 watts less than what i want.. would that make a difference?

For one, that isn’t underpowering a subwoofer, you want to be at or just a tad above rms power so you want an amp running around 300-400w. Given that, that amp is rated at peak power, not rms so at 4ohm you are looking at around 250-300rms anyway. 50 watts will show little of a difference it just depends on how good the amp is. If you want your sub to be louder build a better box to the company’s specs for that particular woofer or add another woofer and find a 2ohm stable amp capable of around 600-750w rms. or best option, buy a different woofers that are better than the ones you have.

Question by Asker: This 1000 Watt amp, is it too much for a speaker that uses 700 Watts?
I don’t know much about car audio.. Anyway, I have a 15″ sub that says it uses 700 Watts. I was looking around and came across a very cheap 1000 Watt amp. However, it says that it’s 2 x 500 Watts MAX output, or 1000 Watts bridged. Would that be OK to use, or should I be looking for 700 Watt amps?
Thanks, but I talked to my friend about it, he said that I should get an equal or less watt amp, because a more powerful amp could blow the speakers

No, that will work. It will only put out what it can. Since it’s not possible to put out 1000 wts on a 700 wt speaker, it will put out only (up to) 700. Probably less, around 550-650. The MAX output is what it could put out if it were attached to speakers with 1000 wts avaliable.

Question by T!ka 🙂: Where can I buy a car amp that can handle RMS 1000 watts online?
Because I have two subs that are 500 RMS each. And I dont want to blow out anything, or buy an amp that cant handle the subs. I don’t more much about car audio stuff. But i do know that the amp should be about the same wattage as the subs, or a little less than the subs.

kWh = KiloWatt hours
1kW=1000 watts
1000 watts for 1 hour is 1/2000 of 2000 kWh
If you are at this level, you should be able to do arithmetic.

Question by Jamie: My CPU Power Supply is dead, does it matter how many watts I buy for my next power supply?
Like… say my computer is emachine, would it matter if I got a Compaq power supply? Also, the watts, I don’t know if it matters if I were to get 300 or 500, someone please tell me, I don’t want this thing dying, haha. Oh, and where can I buy all sorts of CPU Power Supply?

Here’s what it says on the current, in case it helps:
Input 100v – 127v ~/ 6A; 220 – 240v~/ 3.15A: 50Hz – 60Hz
Total output: 250W

Then below that it says crap like…
Total power can’t exceed 110w.
Total power can’t exceed 250w.

So I don’t know which is which, you know? Lol.

well. just get another 250w PSU
and you can find all kinds of goodies on Newegg.com
