Question by : What are my chances of Medical School?
I’m a junior in a respectable public high school. I have a 3.5 GPA with AP classes and a very hard worker. I’m gonna graduate with high honors, but i’m not in the top 20. I am however, in the top 15% of my class. My family has always been in the medical field, but in nursing. I just wanted to know if I would be successful in Medical School. Any help?
By the way, I live in Alabama so I would be going to UAB or South Alabama for med. school. I also would wanna specialize in cardiothoracic surgery.

Question by cowgirl: would carried out statistics and descriptive information be the comparable class?
Please dont resolution yes explain.
My junior faculty doesnt have it but another college in town has carried out statistics.
Uab school of nursing requires descriptive.
so i was wondering may these classes be the same thing simply with other names.

I educate what is essentially applied statistics, though the path has a different name. The use of the term “applied” simply means that the student will not necessarily be exposed to statistical theory, proofs, and mathematical derivations – the focus will instead be on using facts. When I teach applied statistics, descriptive records is just a subset of what we cover. I frankly find it hard to believe that there could be an entire college course on descriptive statistics since it is just a (small) subset of applied statistics. So the short answer is that if you take applied statistics, you will definitely have covered descriptive statistics. Just save your syllabus and your instructor contact information so you can later “prove” that you met the requirement.

Question by Chance: UAB School of Nursing – Transportation while living on campus?
I understand there is some amount of public transportation at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, but I am curious if anyone who has been through the nursing (BSN) program there knows if it is possible to attend all the clinicals without bringing your own transportation?

I’m moving to campus and do not want to carry my own vehicle if I don’t have to, but I have to be able to get to clinicals and am not sure how far from campus the clinicals take place and whether the public transportation reaches anywhere close to them.

I guess you know approximately the DART, which is the public downtown trolley system, which has a common route and regular stops every 1/2 hour or so around UAB and central downtown Birmingham business district.

but i recommend the UAB Campus ride service, which is the place you call a local number, and you tell them where you are and where you want to go, and after giving your name and number, they will pick you up in a just right 5-10 minutes and take you where you need to go. and the good thing is that its loose! it’s like a free cab ride! you should probably inquire and check that out to get any further information about it. 🙂
