Hello I am currently a senior in high school and have been applying to several prestigious 4-year universities and I feel very strongly about becoming a Nurse.

However, I recently was informed of a quicker and less financially exhausting means in obtaining my BSN.

Would it be possible to go to Howard neighborhood College at a much cheaper price and join in an Accelerated RN Degree application which will have to take around 13 months (full daytime course starting in the summer) and then transfer to a 4-year college as a sophomore? where I can then paintings on getting my BSN (2 extra years) without taking those first 2 years of prerequisites?

OR

2 years at Howard Community school (to get my Traditional RN) then TRANSFER to a 4-year university as a junior for an additional 2 more years to get my BSN?

OR

Should I just attend the 4-year university from get started to finish to download my BSN?

In addition, might people notice that I attended a Community College first when looking for a job or would they only see my BSN at the 4-year university? Finally, is it possible to first complete the Accelerated RN Program and then follow up by enrolling in an “Accelerated BSN Program” and bypass the extra 2 years at the 4-year university?

Can’t resolution re Howard CC, but I would say do the AS program, get your RN certification to have a job under your belt, and then work on the BSN completion.

I know women who did the old time (do they still have them?) hospital RN diplomas and then went on to do the BSN.

I think getting into the work force as soon as you can after HS is probably the highest thing to do.

You have to have a bachelor’s degree in another field (and from what I heard, it has to be something to do with science) to qualify to. take the accelerated program.

There is no ensure of a job, but it is likely you would get one.

Yes the licensing test is hard. It is called the NCLEX-RN. Yes, you can work out of state, but you would need to get a license for that state in order to practice.

No, the whole point of accelerated BSN programs are that the applicant has already completed a general education core in their former bachelor’s program, so they don’t have to take those courses over but only focus on prerequisite and nursing specific coursework.

So I go to VCU and the nursing school is very onerous to get into. Their different option is to get a bachelors level in another topic and then go into the sped up program. It comes down to that the accelerated BSN programs require many classes that you would normally take for pre-nursing degree.

So if your degree does not have a lot to do with nursing, you will require to take all those classes.

From what I see, the accelerated software is much more “concentrated”–then the four-year application. Yes, they have medical visits, as well.

Question by lender021: Is it difficult to get into US accelerated BSN programs if you’re a foreigner?
I am actually a clinical graduate from the philippines. some stuff happened and I took some time off to take care of my father (tried private nurses but it didn’t pan out). As time went by, the dream of taking the USMLE and becoming a medical resident became more unrealistic but I really do love the medical box so I was hoping that I can become a nurse instead.

most professions in the health related field are projected to have substantial growth in the next 5 years. as long as you fulfill the application and visa requirements the fact that you are a foreigner should not be a hurdle. if you already hold a medical doctor level you may have your credit evaluated from one of the services that relates overseas degrees to their equivalent in the u.s. you might be able to transfer some credits and this will shorten the time to complete the bsn program.

what i dont understand is why it would be unrealistic to take the usmle test just because some time has passed. why you dont try it still? the worst it could occur is that you dont pass.
